Five Rise Locks Café was taken over by a local family in August 2011 and they have steadily improved the facilities and opening times since then. The café is tucked away by the canal, right next to the famous Five Rise Locks and there is a rack to park bikes at the side of the café with seating both inside and out, although if you plump for the latter then there’s the added option to feed the ducks!
It’s a great café, it’s bike friendly, with friendly staff, good service and a very comprehensive menu including a wide selection of cakes. It feels like they go that extra mile with both the food and service, with decent sized portions to boot. Definitely worth a visit, though it does get busy in summer.
A special note on access; if you are arriving via the canal then you certainly can’t miss the cafe, but if you are on the road coming from Bingley centre then you need to turn up Park Road for just short of a mile, take a left on Hall Bank Drive and proceed to the end where the road meets Beck Lane, following the road to the canal. Follow all that? Phew!
