Nestled up a country lane close to the centre of Holmfirth is The Pure North Cider Press. As well as producing a range of amazing ciders, they also have a brilliant café, serving home made fresh food prepared with locally sourced ingredients, which makes for a perfect pitstop in the Holme Valley.
Pure North is not somewhere you would simply stumble upon, which is why it makes a refreshing change to the usual crowded cafes in Holmfirth and is a good location for groups of all sizes.
With a specials board listing delights such as hot roast beef, raisin and walnut toast and pork and apple sauce sandwiches there really is something for everyone, but if a quick coffee and cake is more your bag then they have a range of options there too.
There’s plenty of seating inside and out and loads of room to lean your bike, making the café very welcoming for hungry riders. Just be careful not to have too many bottles of Pure North Original, especially if you are planning on tackling the mighty Holme Moss after lunch!

Holme Moss is one of the toughest climbs around, as the pros who rode Le Tour in 2014 will testify, but the views from the top are more than worth the effort:
