Arriving at the café via the cobbled Shambles back street you will often be greeted with a sea of bikes leaning against the Grade II listed building.
The café has ample outdoor seating as well as a huge number of tables inside and the staff are more than happy to shuffle things around to accommodate a large group of hungry cyclists. In Winter it’s been known for cyclists to be given bin bags to sit on!
The menu includes huge jacket potatoes, baked beans served on doorstep wedges of granary toast and a large selection of tray bakes and scones. The café is currently a cash only establishment, however there are plenty of cash machines available in the centre of Wetherby.
Overall, The Gourmet is a good honest Yorkshire café serving hearty food with a smile and has quickly become the go-to destination for north Leeds riders heading east looking for a flatter recovery ride.
